Frosty Morning on the bike 29th October

1 min read

A cold and frosty morning at 07:30 UTC on Blackpool promenade but wrapping up warm with several layers I was active from about 07:30 UTC until 08:45 UTC on 40m on the electric tricycle using my full sized quarter wave vertical antenna for 40m.

There was no wind and a clear blue sky, but the temperature was initially zero degrees which increased to 4 degrees by the end of the session.

Propagation wasn’t quite as good as yesterday, into the Pacific area as Roy Brown, VK7ROY was only 5/7 whereas yesterday he was 5/9, also I had a high background hash noise this morning that was quite annoying!

A long QSO over several sessions with Roy, VK7ROY to evaluate propagation this morning (thanks Roy!)

Signals from VK peaked around 08:30 UTC but signals from ZL were consistently good throughout the whole session…

An excellent signal from Gary, ZL3SV along with some good signals from the following DX stations worked on 40m ssb:
